Cynthia Thomas Stitch Guides UPDATED AGAIN

Cynthia Thomas writes a great many stitch guides for Melissa Shirley designs.  Search on Melissa Shirley to read about them here in an earlier article.  There is a link about a new stitch guide series for cute old fashioned Halloween pails from EyeCandy Needleart here.

Melissa Shirley's website has a profile for Cynthia.

Cynthia has stitched the seasonal tree ornament set by Rebecca Wood.  A slide show on the Rebecca Wood home page shows these off beautifully!  (I don't know if this is still available as this profile was written in 2011 and websites change.)

By the way, Cynthia has a blog  You can follow the adventures of The Hill Country Stitcher here but Cynthia's not maintaining the blog any more.  Still, it's a good place to see some her older models.

Her first book is out, too.  You can get a glimpse of the techniques covered in Noses, Roses and other Fun Stuff here.

UPDATE:  Cynthia is starting to post photos of all her stitch guide models on her Facebook page.  It will take a while for her to post all her guides as she is asking the designers for permission to use their photos, but you can always message Cynthia and ask if she has a guide for the canvas you are interested in.

Hi Cynthia,
1. In your stitch guide for Across the Threshold-C563
in the directions for the Bodice what is the product
"1 strand (gray) False Rice?"

2. In the skirt you use "3 ply (gray)." I assume that is the same product??
-The 4-Way Mosaic is in DMC Blanc
-The Ovals are the beads
-The Upright Grid is in Kreinik #032-Pearl
Do I have that correct??? What is the "3 ply Gray" for? Are you using that for setting the beads???

Please help! Thank you! Love and admire your great stitches!!

Hi Cynthia,
1. In your stitch guide for Across the Threshold-C563
in the directions for the Bodice what is the product
"1 strand (gray) False Rice?" Kreinik #8 032. The (gray) refers to the gray line in the chart.

2. In the skirt you use "3 ply (gray)." I assume that is the same product?? The color of the lines in the chart doesn't indicate the same threads through the stitch guide. The gray lines in this diagram are 4-way Mosaics in DMC Floss Blanc.
-The 4-Way Mosaic is in DMC Blanc You are correct. The 4-way Mosaics are worked 1st.
-The Ovals are the beads This is correct. The beads are attached with your favorite beading thread. When I wrote this guide I wasn't listing a beading thread since everyone had their favorite. I use Gutermann Invisible thread doubled in the needle to bead with.
-The Upright Grid is in Kreinik #032-Pearl Yes this is correct, the smyrna cross is also worked in Kreinik #8 032
Do I have that correct??? What is the "3 ply Gray" for? Are you using that for setting the beads??? The 3 ply (gray) is the DMC Floss Blanc.

Thank you for the compliment. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me direct at needleartisan@hotmail.com
