Cupcakes and Topiaries from Melissa Shirley Designs

Melissa Shirley just announced on her Facebook page that now that the monthly clubs for her Sweetheart Cupcake club and her Fancy Forest Topiary are over, they are available as stitch guides.  Laurie Walden created the guide for the Valentine-themed cupcakes while Rebecca Booth of the Knotted Needle created the topiaries.

Melissa Shirley fans will have noticed lots of new stitch guides for her holiday cracker canvases.  These are little rectangles designed to be made up as Christmas (or Easter or Halloween) crackers.  Many of the guides have been written by the incredibly talented Palma Seljan, and this morning I have a special treat for you--a free guide by Palma for the Halloween Candy Corn Cracker.  That's him you see grinning above.  Isn't he a treat?!

If you become an addict, Palma has recently done guides for the Easter and Valentine's crackers.  The Valentine ones are on Melissa's home page.  The Easter ones are so new the guide isn't shown yet.  I've seen the finished models on Facebook and Stitcherie.  Trust me, they are terrific!

Witch Hats with Stitch Guide by Kelly Clark UPDATED

Folks love Halloween and they love Kelly Clark's designs, so naturally when Kelly designed witch hats for the June 2011 TNNA show, people got excited.  Here are the bare naked canvases on display in Kelly's show booth (very last photo).  Click to enlarge it.

The hats seem to be made up of two pieces--a triangular hat top and a semi-circular brim. This will make finishing and display easier.  I'm not sure about the size but they look too large to be ornaments.

Nimble Needle (Atlanta, GA) says that there is a spiral-bound stitch guide book for all six witch hats.  The photo that illustrates this article is from their newsletter.  I'm sure they are going to get it in stock.  Here is their website in case you don't have a local shop that can order the stitch guide and a canvas for you.
