Stitch Guide Books

It suddenly dawned on me I've not talked about books that are stitch guides for a collection of canvases.  This trend started several years ago when Brenda Hart, Carolyn Hedge Baird and Linda published books about a series of canvases from various designers.  The books are generally spiral bound and not only useful for that set of canvases, but have ideas for similar canvases from other designers.  Several folks have done multiple stitch guides for a designer series but if these are released as standalone documents, I have not included them here.

Carolyn Hedge Baird
Wacky Halaloween Houses and Characters, Circus Dogs, plus Rainbow of Stitches for Noah's Ark and Animals, Vintage Thanksgiving Children, Fourth of July Children, and Valentine Victorians, all from Melissa Shirley.

Debbie Bowers and Dennis Masellis
This talented duo created guides for six of Melissa Shirley's Valentine Lollipops.

Beverly Churchfield
Beverly has done a lovely job with Melissa Shirley's Four Golden Pears and her Four Golden Candy Canes as well as Fancy Green Candy Canes.

Linda Corirossi
Melissa Shirley Houses is a hard-to-find book that has wonderful house stitches for a series of small seasonal houses by Melissa.

Paula Fehleison
Paula has an elegant guide book for Melisa Shirley's Acorns.

Brenda Hart
A Banner Year covers twelve seasonal banners from Rebecca Wood.  I find the background stitches particularly useful, but there are ideas for houses, American flags, water and much more in this jewel.

It's in The Bag covers small purse canvases from The Red Thread.  Again, this is a great source for background stitch ideas.

Wendy Harwood
Four Autumn Pears and also Green Pears cover many of the smaller pear shaped ornaments Melissa Shirley has done for Christmas and fall displays.  Wendy also worked on Fancy Pink Candy Canes and the Witch and Goblins Halloween series.

Holly McGinness and Janet Perry
This duo has created guides for the Peppermint Stick Birds series, Christmas Sweets, and Box of Chocolates, and Luggage Tags all featuring Melissa Shirley canvases.

dede Odgen
That's Not Needlepoint and That's Not Needlepoint 2 are books with ideas how to stitch a variety of dede's line of canvases.  The first book is all about ocean-themed canvases while the second book covers a wide range of designs.  Both books alternate between a few ideas for a piece with a full guide (often using dede's line of threads) for a few of the canvas covered in the book.

Cynthia Thomas
Cynthia is particularly prolific in turning out guides for multiple series by Melissa Shirley.  She has done Fancy Candy Canes, Fancy Bird Ornaments, Five Bracelets, Patterned Lolipops, Fancy Lollipops, Christmas Treasures, Christmas Crackers, The Twelve Days of Christmas, Halloween Town, Candy Cane, Twelve Days of Christmas Angels.  Cynthia worked with Palma Seljan on the Valentine and the Easter Crackers.  

Laurie Walden
Also a prolific Melissa Shirley stitch guide writer, Laurie has worked on Melissa's Sweet Hearts, Pink Ribbon Candy, Christmas Crackers, Christmas Ribbon Candy

Meredith Willet
Meredith turned Melissa Shirley's small Beautiful Beetles canvases into small jewels.
